That is exactly how to end suffering. But for it to work, one must understand what's actually causing the suffering. It's not the circumstance, nor situation that is causing the suffering. Though I understand that's exactly what seems to be doing so. It can seem to be enormous suffering. The actual suffering is in the definition or label being given to a situation or circumstance that is causing the suffering, and it is deepened with belief in that definition or label.
Now, I know this can be hard to see, when you're experiencing something bad, that you are actually defining it as bad. We humans love to fall for the story. It is bad. We just think it is a certain way, when in reality everything is a perception. I'll give an easy example of perception. A small baby kitten. To an ant that kitten is gigantic. But to a human that kitten is tiny. Now, let's make it trickier, and look at an example of a slice of life that looks bad.
A person is driving down the road in the pouring rain. Eventually, they come to a place where the road is flooded and their vehicle stalls. This situation looks bad, just as it is. Now, let's look at how perspectives change this. To the person driving home from work, wanting to get home, yes, they may define this as bad. But to the person who was driving to share the excitement with a friend that it was finally raining, ending a four month drought, they would define this as wonderful! You may even see them get out of the vehicle and literally dance in the rain!
Now, what though, if you were that person trying to get home, can you do to stop defining this as bad to stop the suffering? A deep breath is a great place to start. Gratitude is another great step. You truly can pause and be thankful, you're stuck out here because you were not required to stay and work late. That's a blessing. Gratitude no matter how small, has this amazing affect in life. It just seems to bring you more of what you appreciate and love. So, there you're sewing a seed of more nights you get to go home and not stay late at work. You can be thankful you're inside the vehicle, and not getting drenched in the pouring rain. Especially if it's cold outside, or you do not like getting your work clothes wet. By putting your focus on the positives about the situation, you remove your focus on the negatives, which can help things start moving into more positive preference for you more easily.
Now would about the slices of life of circumstances that have been going on for quite awhile that you dislike? Find everything about right now that you do like, and focus on it. If you stay focused on that which you like, it helps you to quite literally feel better and makes it easier for you to come to acceptance, the place of this non-ideal situation being perfectly okay, as it is right now. This here is the magic, for beautiful things start working.
Coming to this place of acceptance moves you out of resistance, which just serves to push away what you do like, and it also helps you to release attachment to having to have the outcome you want, exactly as you want it, right now, or you'll never be happy. That too, serves to only push away that which you want, because with attachment you're just focusing on the idea that you don't have it. And it takes the feeling of joy to draw to you what you do desire. You have to be happy first. It is being in the vibration of joy that can only bring you to experiencing that you which you enjoy. Being in the vibration of frustration and want can only bring you that which matches it - more frustration and want.
Perhaps you can look at an area in your life now, and see where you've held fruition of your desire at bay by labeling something as not okay? Can you find anything about your life where it is okay? And thus release the resistance and/or attachment that could be pushing away that which you prefer?
Gratitude log time - it's what works for me. My love to you all! :)
Love & Light,
